Fenella's World

January colours

January colours

January always feels very long, there’s no tinsel to distract us and no sun to seek in these seasonal British shores, applying a new year’s resolution in January is also tricky when it’s dark and we’re tired. So at Fenella we wanted to encourage you to make small changes that will add some colourful joy.

Here are some ideas to brighten your days..

Cosy Up Colourfully

Evenings are long in these winter months, so embrace them find some good TV, some great books and add splashes of colour to your rooms. Some quick ideas; fill your sofa with a rainbow of velvet colourful cushions, my favourite are from Graham & Green, super cosy and soft.

Throw some faux fur rugs over the back of your kitchen chairs to add an extra cosy feel and light some colourful candles - I love the dip dye ones here

I’m currently reading Driving Over Lemons.. it’s a dreamy summery book to escape into on these rainy dark nights, and my favourite drink from one of our colour dip mugs is Pukka’s Peace tea.. I’m not a huge fan of herbal teas but this one is delicious.

Commute Colourfully

So often I am asked where my yellow laptop bag is from.. I’m always tempted to do a twirl and say meeeee. You can have a lot of fun with your accessories, beyond the warm clothes that are rain and puddle proof, add a bright yellow laptop bag or bright green laptop rucksack, greens and yellows bring the feeling of spring closer so choose your accessories to reflect that, our yellow purses have a cute lemon print pattern inside and our green amber tote bags are super soft and spacious, so they are perfectly elegant for day to evening.

Escape Colourfully

If you are lucky enough to be able to have a weekend away a city break is always a highlight in January, tasty meals, enveloping museums and cosy hotel bars where you can read or people watch.

London is still a favourite escape for Mr Smith and I, we love a mooch around the V&A or if it’s a bright and chilly day Kew Gardens is perfect, When Flowers Dream is a crazy wonderful colourful exhibition that you can still catch at Kew.

Our favourite haunt is La Mia Mamma for the finest Italian food with the best, most fun atmosphere in the evenings.

So pack your weekender bag and escape for a moment!
